Book One in the Abdavon Chronicles

Prologue

I ran and ran. I knew they wouldn’t stop until they either captured their prey, or were defeated. In my opinion, I’d rather defeat them than be captured and handed over to The Fangs. Dodging Espa boomerangs left and right, I knew it wouldn’t be long until I reached the border of the Forest of Light and reached the beach.

On the Border Beaches and on the shore of Lake Eternal my “hot headedness” was lowered to a very low amount of energy, so I tried to avoid going to those areas.

The world felt as if it was playing in slow-mo. Of course, that could be because my IPod was playing Move Along by the All American Rejects. Ha, ha. So I back-flipped onto a nearby palm tree to scout out the nearby land by treetop when...

BAM!!!!! A sudden force knocked me of my feet and onto a Border Beach. I looked around and saw nothing but the stretching landscape and the falling rock coming from the Volcanic Peninsula cutting through Lake Ash.

Then I saw the shadows falling on the beach. I looked to the skies and saw a horrible sight. The humanoids where riding dark fliers! Those sick, evil, and ruthless things had taken the beauty from those gentle creatures and had replaced it with evil appearance.

I was so angry, (mind, I’m always angry that’s what boosts my power.) I wanted to kill all those things and send their soul crystal back to their master in pieces.

So, did what came natural and said, “FIRE BALL!!!!!!”

A heated sensation flew from my hands landing on a flier. The hair on it’s back ignited and the creature and its rider fell from the sky and into the ocean.

If I hadn’t been on the Border Beach, the fireball would’ve incinerated them, but gladly the flier didn’t.

I knew that even if there was one of eight fliers down, I was in trouble with the ones that were on land. I looked behind me and saw the ocean. When I looked back to see what was in front of me, I almost gasped.

Squads of humanoids were directly in front of me. I was almost completely surrounded by humanoids. I was still mad about the fliers, and I kind of took it out on those squads.

In a matter of seconds, I had completely burnt down all of the humanoids but in the process, I burnt the sand so it was so hot it turned to glass, with the humanoids soul crystals in it.

As I turned around brushing my hands off, a knife edge was jabbed into my neck by a surviving humanoid with the face of a donkey, the body of a man, and the tail of a monkey.

A hiss shot through the forest making birds fly into the sky. It meant that the creature that was hunting me, had captured my scent, and was well on its way.

By the sound of the hiss, the creature was probably Srerdre’ the Viper, the deadliest member of The Fangs.

In the second it takes to jump, a man with very strange axes, a snake tail and a cobra’s flaps on his neck, with razor sharp fangs for teeth ran from the bushes stopping at once and looking at me.

“What’s up Srerdre the Diaper? Haven’t seen you in a while! Whatcha’ been doin’? Basking in a glory that isn’t yours? Ha!!” I said laughing in agony as a sword was pushed into my neck making a trickle of blood appear down the front of my neck.

“You sly doggy… You think you are so powerful, well I have a message for you and orders from my master.” hissed Srerdre.

“Oh yeah, and what are your “orders”?” I asked sarcastically.

“To kill you.” was Srerdre’s simple reply.

He waved at the humanoid to let me free. I rubbed my neck with fire to make the cut go away. Pulling my knives out of their secret sheaths on my back, I readied for a direct attack from Srerdre’s axes.

I jumped onto a layer of glass while dragging my knives through the sand, sending a spray of sand into the sky.

As quickly as I could, I breathed fire and created a half of a glass dome. Srerdre jumped inside and I quickly created the other side of the dome.

I knew that the dome would be easily shattered and I already saw multiple cracks appearing in the glass.

At least I can still breathe. I thought as I traveled in a circle.

Srerdre kept on hissing and shooting out his intensely long tongue. It was really starting to bug me.

As were the customs, we bowed to each other and got into our battle positions. My swords upside-down, I was determined to defeat this monster once and for all.

Srerdre unsheathed his axes and prepared to strike. Tongue flailing wildly, I knew that this was the end for either him… or me.

As he waved a final wave of his tale, Srerdre the Viper made an astounding jump into the air and slashed at me with his axes…

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I’m getting very, very, very, very, ahead of myself. I know that you want me to tell you the story from where I left off, but to tell you the truth, this part doesn’t come till the end.

I know, I know, you want to hear the story, but I need to start from the beginning.

My name is Chase Corritchi, and I like fire…
